People supporting people:
The Foodshed Alliance is a grassroots, non-profit devoted to promoting locally-grown food and farming. They work with farmers, community members, and agricultural leaders to develop projects that foster the growth of a sustainable local food system. They focus on raising public awareness about the value of local foods and on helping farmers find more profitable and sustainable ways to grow and market.

I belong to their Virtual Farmers Market where I can order fresh, local food each week (my salts are sold there too)! It's an amazing program and every community should have one if they already don't!

Brilliant local chef & restaurant:
Andres Restaurant & Wine Boutique located in Newton, NJ is like no other local restaurant I've ever known. The owner and renown Chef, Andre dedicates a tremendous amount of time, energy and fervor into utilizing local goods on his menu. A rare and remarkable find with any business today - also an excellent gift to all patrons. Andre can be seen any given Saturday donating his time to offer cooking demonstrations at the local Newton Farmer's Market - all to encourage shoppers to try & buy! It's completely inspiring and worth getting a taste of... Pay Andre's Restaurant & Wine Boutique a visit!

Best local HOME MADE ravioli & stuffed breads
I love, LOVE to cook. But with two babies, a household to run, my small business (Saltopia) and not much free time...sometimes dinner is questionable. I always have Maria's home made ravioli and stuffed breads in my freezer. They are an easy and delicious meal. I don't ever feel guilty for allowing Maria to do my cooking for me. She's the best. My favorites are her butternut squash & pumpkin ravioli. And her "Athens" stuffed bread is incredible!!

Best local GOAT CHEESE:
Amazing goat cheese. Absolutely adorable goats. Super nice people doing incredible things with their local farm. Check them out! Buy their cheese! It's so yummy. I highly recommend chunking their cheese over fresh pasta & sauteed veggies. They have an incredible Garlic Chevre that is out of this world...

My favorite food blog:
"Not Without Salt" is seriously one of the best online blogs for food lovers! Ashley is not only a superb chef but she is also a brilliant writer. I don't know what I love more about visiting her blog each week: her delectable Entrées or her charismatic Entries.

She is always traveling and inventing while informing her readers in the most soothing way. Sometimes, when I am having an awful day, I find peace and get lost in her world...even if it's just a few moments.
Give the site a visit - I am sure you will love it as much as I do!

Best local BREAD & veggies:
Apple Ridge Farm is a local farm that I became acquainted with through the Foodshed Alliance. I absolutely LOVE their fresh bread - my family is addicted to it! And their fruit/veggies during the growing season are simply amazing. Don't miss their heirloom tomatoes, especially...incredible. If you don't belong to the Foodshed's VFM (virtual farmers market)...then find them at a local market and try their goods: http://www.appleridge.net/
FLOWER POWER!!
If you need to send flowers (in the Hackettstown area) - PLEASE don't miss out on Katarina's Florist. Kimberly is the florist there and single-handedly makes all the arrangements herself. Her flowers are magnificent! When I was in the hospital delivering my baby, I received several beautiful floral arrangements…but WOW – you could see the difference between Kimberly’s flowers and all the others. They also have a bridal boutique and travel agency (in case you’re planning your wedding – it would be a one stop shop!) Katarina is also lovely and will do everything possible to help you find the perfect dress for any occasion. She allows walk-ins to buy dresses right off the rack! And finally, last but not least, Isabel is the seamstress there. Seamstress genius. Isabel is exceptional and can tailor every stitch of fabric to fit you perfectly! It’s so hard to find a good seamstress…she is truly a gem. So flowers, gowns…go to Katarina’s: http://www.katarinaflorist.com/
