FAUX salt lamps versus the REAL DEAL
Unfortunately, many companies manufacture salt lamps. Please know that these are not the same as a Certified Himalayan Lamp. Acrylic salt lamps do not offer benefits to your health in any way. Some even my be manufactured with toxic lead and can be harmful to your health.
How do you know if the SALT LAMP you purchased elsewhere is the REAL THING? Here's 6 legitimate ways to know:
#1 - If your lamp can be traced BACK to the Himalayan Mountain Range, then it's REAL. SALTOPIA sells our lamps with certificates that offer each customer this exact ability.
#2 - If it was TOO CHEAP to be TRUE. Salt lamps should cost approximately $3.00-$4.50 per pound at retail price. If the lamp is TRULY from the Himalayan Mountain range, the cost of mining the lamps, then the voyage from there to the USA is extremely expensive. So if you bought it cheap or with free shipping offers, perhaps you should question it.
#3 - The larger lamps are too bright. If you purchased a lamp that's 30 pounds or greater - it will NOT be super bright. Real Himalayan lamps will not be able to emit light in a uniform pattern - it's the true nature of the genuine salt.
#4 - If the lamp handles moisture well, then it's not the real deal! Test your lamp by gently rubbing it with a wet cloth. You should notice discoloration of the cloth from the salt (red or pink) and the lamp should look like it's weeping.
#5 - It's indestructible. NOT! Genuine Himalayan salt lamps are incredibly fragile! We lose a large portion of our import due to breakage from the long journey around the world. Fake ones seem to never chip or crack or shed salt if they are bumped.
#6 - Nothing changes for you health-wise! If you're purchasing this lamp due to health benefits - you will indeed see some significant changes. Read more here: http://www.saltopiasalts.com/himalayan-salt-lamps.html
