Salt is the most common ingredient for any recipe from soups to desserts. As more health conscious consumers continue to seek out organic or healthier 'farm to table' options, salt is the key ingredient being overlooked. The factory-made table salts are the ones hurting us and making us sick due to the chemicals added: bleach, anti-caking agents, pouring agents and other toxic chemicals. Meanwhile pure, naturally harvested, unrefined salts are the most essential mineral we cannot live without as humans. We see a vast amount of the population either too busy to be healthy or already sick, struggling to shop at their local farmers markets, hoping to achieve better health...all the while they go home and salt their farm fresh, organic foods with toxic chemicals found in their manufactured table salts. Our battle within this business is educating consumers to understand the difference between the two separate salt options. We also try to encourage parents that cooking a simple, healthy meal can be delicious with the right pinch of salt. We understand how hard it is to get dinner on the table - a dinner that didn't come from the drive-through or the microwave. This is why we offer simple recipes with each and every one of our salts to remind families to put away their smart phones, sit down at the kitchen table, talk about their day together and pass the SALTOPIA. How we do what we do: All for the love of pure salt!
SALTOPIA uses only naturally harvested sea salts from all over the world. We currently have established salt harvesting farms in all seven continents and import about 28 different types of salts. All of SALTOPIA's flavors are unrefined and pure as Mother Nature intended, without chemicals added such as bleach, anti-caking agents, or pouring agents. Our salt infusion process is proprietary but involves allowing the salts to absorb the natural juices & aromas that are extracted from herbs, fruits, vegetables, wine and other organic goods that are hand selected. An important part of the company is to support sustainability by purchasing produce from local farms for each salt creation. SALTOPIA’s sea salts enhance any recipe with rich, complex flavor. SALTOPIA offers seductive flavors such as strawberries, ginger root and lavender to create aromatic sea salts destined to become your favorite secret ingredient.
We do not use any machines at all to create our sea salts. Each flavor infusion is produced in small batches under 50 pounds to ensure the flavor and salt combination is perfected. If we have a customer who requests 500 or even 1,000 pounds of a specific infusion, we simply make several 50 pound batches to calculate their total needs. Mass production will not be a part of our business – it does not reflect what we do best nor does the product maintain its powerful consistency which has made our company so successful in a very short time.
We never change our recipes, to ensure the same perfected quality. For a majority of our infused sea salts, we actually hand select fresh, organic harvest from local farms to create the flavors. We do this for several reasons: organic fruits, herbs and vegetables taste far better that foods that have been treated with chemicals and pesticides. Even after washing fresh produce, there is still a great amount of chemicals inside the produce because the plants have been growing in grounds that have been treated with these chemicals. The plants consume the water and nutrients from the soil along with the chemicals as they grow. So we choose organic for this reason. Additionally, we purchase and hand select much of our produce from local farms to help support sustainability and our local economy. We have wonderful relationships with our local farmers and purchase as much as we can from them throughout their harvest season.
The only variations that may be seen between your product purchases may be the color of the salts. On occasion Mother Nature can have her hand with the fresh ingredients we use to infuse our products. For example, we noticed while creating “Up Close and Peachy” (our peach and cinnamon infused sea salt) that the peaches for the first batch were slightly whiter in color than the second batch. The glorious flavor is the same, however the peach color was reflected slightly more golden in the second batch than the first batch on the same day.
